Head Coach Brent Held may not have gotten the aggressive play he wanted to carry over from Belleville's last match, but he did get an offensive spark against Carlson, and that's what the Tigers needed following two straight shut outs.

Last Thursday brought a 1-1 tie with Carlson. With the wind at their backs in the first half, Belleville pressured consistently, and Alex Kensley put the Tigers up after bringing a throw in to the net and pushing it short side past Carlson's keeper.
Carlson got their own goal off a corner kick with the wind at their backs in the second half, but Held was still happy to see several second half Belleville opportunities despite the intense wind.
He believes it is also a sign the conditioning they lacked because of poor pre-season weather is improving.
"I was pleased with this game, especially with our conditioning," he said. "I was asking how their legs were at end of the game and they were saying 'A lot better, coach.' We've been working on it at practice and it has been paying dividends."
Belleville fought Trenton to 0-0 tie on Monday until 3:18 remained and the Tigers gave up two goals. On the first, goalie Sam Cagle made two initial stops but Trenton forced the rebound in the net. A penalty kick sealed the game with 48 seconds remaining.
"Sam played really good both games," he said of the keeper who stopped 12 shots against Trenton.
Cagle and the defense have both pleased Held in the last two efforts.
"Our defense is coming around," he said. "We've been working on that, and our freshman Marissa Hawley and Whitney McClinton have really been for showing up on defense - it's coming along."
While Held finds the opportunities his girls are creating a positive sign, he plans to focus practice this week on capitalizing.
"We need to work on finishing," he said. "We're getting some opportunities in front of the net and we need to make sure we're putting the ball in."
Belleville has the week of and returns to action on Monday.
